MEMBER NEWS

Record Setting Month

By Ray Yates

The LASC had a record number ot new members and membership renewals during the month of November. Because ot this and because of space limitations in this issue of the LASC Letter, new member sketches and member re-up notices will run in the January issue.

Board Elections

Scheduled for January

Once again, half of the positions on the Board of Trustees are up for election. Any paid-up member of the LASC is eligible to run for and serve on the board. The election will be held at the General Membership meeting on January 18.

There are many reasons to serve on the board, but perhaps the best one is that board members are the members who get most involved in the music business. Since the music business, like any business, is built on connections, serving on the board offers innumerable opportunities to 'connect up' with music industry people both in Louisville and in other music centers, including Nashville.

Another way of looking at this is to say as we so often do at the board meetings, you can join the clique, get with the in crowd, become one of the movers and shakers, get all the goodies that come from being one of the decision-makers.

We are also currently working on a project to allow the members of the board to enter the contest, so that it will no longer be a punishment to be on the board.
